John Baldesari Post August 30, 2011
This is a piece by John Baldesari is called Beethoven's Trumpet. The trumpet coming out of the ear is a representation of what Beethoven had to do later in life because of hearing loss. I feel like the piece is listening to the world, somewhat of an inverse of what was happening to Beethoven. People were coming to listen to the work he created, and in this piece he's now listening to what else the world has to offer. I like this work because its something that I can relate to. I love classical music, and Beethoven was a great composer, even when he went deaf.

The Appropriation of Art 08-26-2011
I found this image on Google as an example of appropriation of art, or borrowing elements of someone else's work to make an image of your own. It is a lot like the Obama "Hope" images that everyone and their mom appropriated around election time 3 years ago. This image is obviously an appropriation of Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper. This image shows Jesus and his disciples jamming out in the Upper Room Club, with Jesus as the awesome rockin' DJ. I found this personally hilarious and that's why I chose this image for today.
